Internment Camp Tokens were issued in the camps within Australia and New Zealand during WWII, Those within the camps were either POWs or those of kinship to the AXIS powers, (Japan, Germany etc)
The tokens were issued as currency within the camps so that detainees would not hold currency of the country that might offer assistance during an escape attempt.
