Product Description:

In traditional Chinese culture, the serpent-like dragon is venerated as a divine being and a powerful emblem of authority. For centuries, it has been closely linked with the emperor and his lineage, symbolizing wisdom, enlightenment, and benevolence. The dragon is also believed to wield control over water and rain, ensuring abundant harvests and symbolizing wealth and prosperity. In Chinese art, dragons are frequently depicted vying for a pearl, which represents wisdom and immortality.

Those born under the Chinese Lunar Dragon sign in 2024, 2012, 2000, 1988, 1976, and every twelfth year prior are considered ambitious, successful, and charismatic.

Struck by The Perth Mint from 2oz of 99.99% pure gold, this extra-thick coin is issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965. The Perth Mint will release a maximum of 288 pieces of the Double Dragon with Mother of Pearl 2024 2oz Gold Proof Coin.

The coin features an exquisite depiction of two dragons set against a cloud-filled background, symbolizing their celestial domain. These legendary creatures encircle a meticulously carved mother-of-pearl centerpiece, which includes a three-dimensional 19-carat gold representation of the Chinese character for ‘dragon’. The reverse also bears the inscriptions ‘YEAR OF THE DRAGON’ and a ‘P125’ mintmark commemorating The Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary, along with the coin’s weight, purity, and year.

The obverse showcases the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, along with the coin’s monetary denomination.

Each coin is accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity and is presented in a classic display case, complete with a beautifully illustrated shipper.
