1928 South Africa King George V St George Sovereign Gold Coin
Product Description:
As a Royal Mint branch, Gold Sovereigns were struck in Pretoria South Africa from 1923 up until 1932. Much like the coins struck in Australia, South Africa would continue to strike sovereigns for 10 years after the Royal Mint ceased production.
King George V is remembered for his unwavering commitment to duty and public service. During World War I, he boosted morale among troops by visiting the front lines and instituted the annual tradition of delivering a Christmas message to the nation, which still continues. After the war, he oversaw the transition of the British Empire to the Commonwealth of Nations, recognizing the independence of former colonies and played a key role in negotiating the Treaty of Versailles.
His reign saw the production of some of the rarest and most sought-after sovereigns which remain highly valued by collectors due to their historical significance and rarity. These coins serve as a tangible reminder of Australia's early economic and political development and provide a valuable investment opportunity for collectors and investors alike.
