1902 Prussia Kaiser Wilhelm II 20 Mark Gold Bullion Coin
Product Description:
The 20 Mark Prussia gold coins were issued during the reign of Emperor Wilhelm II, who ruled from 1888 to 1913, during the German Empire. These coins were used as legal tender in everyday transactions. Prussia, the largest and most influential state in the Empire, accounted for about two-thirds of the territory and three-fifths of the population.
The German Empire itself was established after the Franco-German War, with Wilhelm I, King of Prussia since 1861, being declared the first German Emperor on January 18, 1871, at the Palace of Versailles. Under his leadership, the 25 German states unified, though each retained the right to mint its own Reichsgoldmark. The free cities of Bremen, Hamburg, and Lübeck featured their respective city coats of arms on the front of their coins.
Obverse: Bust of Wilhelm II on the right, legend around it.
Reverse: Crowned imperial eagle, legend around.
