Known as a brute of a man who endeavored to be more like his subjects in his appearance, it was said that he could tear a deck of cards in half with his bare hands. He embodied what most would consider a true Russian - docile, stoic, and un-empathetic. He was an aggressive Russian nationalist who believed Russia should strictly contain singular values and not accommodate to foreigners at all.
Alexander III would grow up with little hope of becoming Czar as he was second in line after his brother. As such he was only privy to the training and education of a common duke until his brother’s sudden death, when the responsibility of the monarchy would be thrust upon him, he had to quickly learn how to become a ruler.
Obverse: Czar Alexander III facing right
Reverse: Crowned double headed imperial eagle
