Produced from 1640 until the revolution of 1793, with 3 different denominations, The Half Louis, Full Louis and the double Louis. These magnificent French gold coins have been a mainstay for collectors around the world for centuries. These coins were produced while France was the greatest power within Europe also while at the same time many uprisings of the people would occur, which would eventually cause the production of these coins to be halted and replaced by another.
These coins were the main gold currency for over 150 years and were heavily circulated within that time. This inherently makes high quality versions of these coins extremely sought after.
