Product Description:
Anne became queen in 1702 after the death of William III, her brother-in-law and husband of her sister, Mary II. She was the last monarch of the Stuart dynasty and the first monarch of Great Britain, which was created by the Acts of Union in 1707, uniting the kingdoms of England and Scotland.
During her reign, Anne presided over the War of the Spanish Succession, a conflict that involved several European powers and ended with the Treaty of Utrecht in 1713. Anne was also known for her patronage of the arts, particularly the theatre, and for her support of the Church of England.
Anne's reign was marked by political instability and she suffered from ill health throughout her life. She had seventeen pregnancies, but none of her children survived to adulthood. Anne died on August 1, 1714, at the age of 49 and was succeeded by her distant cousin, George I of the House of Hanover.Obverse: fourth draped bust of Queen Anne left, legend around
