In 2014, The Perth Mint's internationally renowned Australian Lunar Series II celebrated the Year of the Horse, the seventh animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. Typical traits of those people born under the influence of the the horse include independence, confidence and intelligence. Lunar horse years include 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002 and 2014.

Obverse: depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date, the monetary denomination and the weight and fineness of each coin.
Reverse: depicts two horses standing within a stylised Chinese landscape. The Chinese character for horse and the inscription Year of the Horse also appear in the design with The Perth Mint's traditional P mintmark.
Presented as issued in a classic red and black presentation case and illustrated lunar-themed shipper, and is accompanied by a numbered Certificate of Authenticity.
