Product Description:

Celebrating the Year of the Snake, this remarkable release consist of four legal tender 1 oz Silver Silver proof pieces that fits together to form a circle with a square in the centre, reminiscent of the first currency of the Chinese empire. This "ban liang" coins were first cast during the Qin Dynasty around 200BCE.

The Snake is significant in traditional Chinese culture as one of 12 animals that participated in the Emperor's Great Race, held to determine the order of their appearance in the lunar calendar. A dominant creature said to control nature, the Snake finished sixth year in the 12-year lunar cycle - including 1953,1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013, and 2025. Bestowed with wisdom; intelligence, independence, and charm, those born in the Year of Snake are regarded as deep thinkers with natural charisma, intuitive and good problem solvers.

A panorama of eye-catching, richly coloured artistry adorns the coins. The top coins depicts a yellow-coloured Snake hanging from a tree, in the native forest and shrubland. Included in the background are the sloped tiers of an overhanging pagoda roof, as traditional part of Chinese architecture.

The right-hand coin depicts a green-coloured Snake curled amongst the lush leaves of a rainforest, with the pagoda and a rocky waterfall in the background.

The bottom coin depicts a blue-coloured Snake with its distinctive striped markings. It sits coiled on a rocky ledge near a moon bridge.

The left-hand coin depicts a dramatic purple and red coloured Snake. <the Snake sits entwined in a tree watching over the river bridge.

Accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity, the set is housed in a classic display case and superbly illustrated shipper.
